Northland's Shelly Kitchen claimed plenty of titles during a stellar squash career but now she has a completely new one - Mrs Ricketts.

The Far North sporting star married long-time partner Anthony Ricketts - also a successful squash player who had a world ranking of No3.

The couple, now living in Brisbane with their two daughters - Gabriella, nearly 1, and Amalia, nearly 4 - were married at Perehipe Bay, Whatuwhiwhi earlier this month.

Proud dad Colin Kitchen said Shelley and Anthony were both 13 years old when their paths first crossed at a squash tournament in Brisbane.

They had since toured the world squash circuit and had been together for 12 years.

"I think they were meant to be together."

Shelley represented NZ at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 and Melbourne in 2006, where she won a silver medal.

The married couple returned to Australia so Anthony could continue his role as high performance squash coach for the Australian Institute of Sport.
