A variety show is being staged in Kerikeri tomorrow night to help send a group of young paddlers to a waka ama competition in Rarotonga.

Te Tii-based Kaihoe o Ngati Rehia waka ama club hopes to send several teams to Vaka Eiva next month and has been raising money furiously to get there. A four-day paddle from Maitai Bay to Whangarei earlier this month was both a training session and a fundraiser.

The variety show will be held from 6pm on October 24 at Kerikeri High School and will feature junior kapa haka, Maioha kapa haka group, school band Back2back, singers, dancers and jugglers, as well as a silent auction and refreshments.

Tickets are available from Kerikeri High School reception and cost $10 adults, $5 students or $25 a whanau (two adults and up to three tamariki). Preschoolers free.
