Truck spills its log load on to road
A logging truck driver escaped with minor injuries after a crash on a bend in Whangarei yesterday.
The accident, at Pataua North Rd about 2.45pm, spilled logs from the trailer on to the road.
A loader from nearby Rosvall Sawmill helped clear the logs while police blocked traffic at both ends of the road.
The truck driver was taken to the sawmill, where he was treated by St John paramedics and later questioned by police.
It was not clear how the accident happened but it appeared the vehicle failed to negotiate a bend.
Two fire trucks from Whangarei were also present at the scene.
