The most expensive property sold in Northland last year went for nearly 60 times its cheapest counterpart, new figures show.
Figures provided by Property IQ show the ritziest Northland home sold for $2.8 million, a whopping $1 million above its CV.
Described by the listing agent as "head and shoulders above the rest", the Mangawhai Heads property, located at 68 Wintle St, has a floor area of 339 square metres and was sold on August 31.
The cedar weatherboard home with French Oak timber floors was built in 2004 and designed by renowned architect Matt Chaplin. It boasts four lavish bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Bayleys agent Gary Wallace described the house as a "mesmerising waterfront property with an elegant holiday home".
"Love each and every holiday at a property absolutely like no other," the emotive description read.

The lavish home is a world away from Northland's cheapest 2012 property, sold in Kaikohe for a pinch at $48,000.
Located at 54 Puia St in Ngawha Springs, the 50 square metre home sold for $5000 below its CV on February 1, 2012.
Advertised as a cute cottage, solid and well maintained, the property boasts a large shed/sleepout and fully fenced section.
The established fruit trees and "Kent-style fire" also earned a mention. "You won't find another this tidy or cheaper!"
Real Estate Institute of New Zealand figures show 1960 properties were sold in Northland in 2012, setting a median price for the year of $276,750.
Nationally, the most expensive home sold last year was a $9.1 million beachfront property on the North Shore that went for $1.6 million over its valuation.
The four-bedroom mansion in Auckland's suburb of Milford topped a list of New Zealand's 10 biggest property sales for 2012 - all of which were in Auckland.
The property boasts a 1844sq m section and a 442sq m home, built about four years ago after the previous house was removed.
It had a capital value of $7.5 million.
At the other end of the scale, the three cheapest homes were sold last year for $20,000 each, including an 87sq m property on Old State Highway 38 in Murupara.
