Teen drowns in Northland

A 19-year-old man has drowned at the Lily Pond lagoon in Haruru, Northland.   At around 3.30pm on 8 January he disappeared beneath the waterline and was later found by family and ambulance staff.   Attempts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful.   The lagoon and the nearby Haruru falls are popular Northland summer destinations in the Bay of Islands.
