SH1 closed after logging truck fire

The burnt-out remains of a logging truck pictured on State Highway 29, on the Kaimai Ranges near Tauranga, after the cab of the vehicle caught fire this morning. The accident caused huge traffic delays into and out of the Bay of Plenty.

State Highway 1, at the Brynderwyns, is closed to traffic in both directions after a logging truck and trailer  caught fire.

Emergency services are dealing with the incident, but police say that motorists will need to expect delays until the road can be reopened.
