Couple killed in motorbike crash named | Northland News | Local News in Northland

Police have named the Northland couple killed after they fell from their motorbike and collided with a ute towing a trailer travelling in the opposite direction.

They were Laurie Grant Imms, 48, and Margaret Ann O'Keefe, 46, both of Hikurangi.

Emergency services were called to the crash in Murray Rd, 45km northwest of Whangarei, about 1.45pm on Saturday, but the pair were pronounced dead at the scene by St John paramedics.

They were among 78 members of the Ruawai Motorcycle Club and Hikurangi Riders Club who had set off on a day-long club run after a sausage sizzle at the Tangiteroria Tavern, between Whangarei and Dargaville.

They planned to stop over at the Taheke Tavern west of Kaikohe before looping south through the Waipoua Forest to return home.
