Northland rugby players have been given a second bite at the cherry when the Blues development squad was announced.

The squad features six Northlanders with Cam Goodhue, Matt Wallace, Jack Whetton, William Whetton, Jake Heenan and Derek Carpenter receiving call ups.

Northland ITM Cup assistant coach and former Blues hooker Derren Witcombe will help coach the team alongside Bevan Cadwallader and Paul Feeney.

The team will prepare for matches against the Crusader Knights, Chiefs Development, Samoa A, Fiji A and Japan A during February and March.
