Northland's active established writers can apply for the University of Auckland Residency at the Michael King Writers' Centre. Writers must be working on a specific project within a range of genres, including fiction, poetry, drama and non-fiction. (Scripts are not eligible.) Support for Tibet
Whangarei's Tibetan community and supporters are welcoming the Tibetan Flame of Truth Relay. The six-month-long relay is travelling around the world to raise awareness about human rights struggles in Tibet. The relay will hit Whangarei on October 12, from 5pm-5.30pm at the Town Basin Canopy Bridge, then at the Old Town Hall until 6.30 pm.
