Accidental slip leads to charge

A man who accidentally
pulled a bag of cannabis out while being spoken to by police found himself in more trouble than he bargained. Whangarei officers were called to street disorder where bottles were being smashed by youths on Reyburn House Lane on Sunday night. The man told police he had picked it up off the road. A 19-year-old Whangarei man was charged with possession of cannabis.

Report of two shots

Police were called to a house in William Jones Dr about 9am on Sunday after reports of two shots being fired. Mr Pennington said officers went to the house, but made no arrests. Police were called to another house in the street six hours earlier following a disturbance at a party being attended by patched gang members. No arrests were made.
