A man who objected to his partner being arrested in Whangarei ended up visiting police cells too. Acting Sergeant Jeremy Weston said the woman was allegedly found breaching the city's liquor ban at 12.50am on Saturday in Vine St. Mr Weston said as the woman was about to be driven to the police station her partner opened the police car door and refused to close it. The man was arrested and charged with obstruction.
