Intimidation charge

A 30-year-old man has been refused bail after allegedly threatening a woman in the Kerikeri CBD, then entering a private dwelling further up Kerikeri Rd. He was arrested about 9pm last Wednesday and charged with intimidation, being unlawfully in a building and resisting police. He remains in custody.

Assault alleged

A 22-year-old man from Pakaraka was arrested about 8.30pm on Sunday after an alleged domestic violence incident. He was due in the Kaikohe District Court yesterday on assault and cannabis-related charges. Police said his partner was injured but not seriously.

Logging truck rolls

Police were yet to speak with the driver of a logging truck which rolled over and ended up on the wrong side of the road yesterday. Northland police Senior Constable John van Pomeren, of the commercial vehicle investigation unit, said the truck and trailer unit were fully laden but it was just the truck that rolled at the end of an s-bend on Opouteke Rd, about 50km north west of Whangarei. The crash was reported about 11.30am and two cranes and a digger were used to move the logs and put the truck unit on a trailer. Mr van Pomeren said it was fortunate no other vehicles were in the area at the time as the truck crossed the road. The driver was taken to Whangarei Hospital with minor injuries and was yet to be interviewed.
