A small tinnie boat was swum ashore a few weeks ago and police are looking for it's owner.

Whoever owns this tinnie boat (pictured) complete with an outboard motor and carrying a tent, clothing and the lid of a suitcase is proving a mystery for a community policeman.

The only clues Onerahi officer Aaron Furze has is a report of the boat being swum ashore by a person about three weeks ago.

He was told a local took the swimmer to Parua Bay, but no one returned to claim the boat.

The tinnie has a recycling bin secured to the bow. Inside the boat, police discovered a tent, clothing, an empty bag and a suitcase lid.

Mr Furze said the boat had not been reported stolen.
