In its report from the Kaitaia Far North Pharmacy Open held recently, the Far North RSA Bowling Club reported a dire weather forecast once again proved to be unreliable on the day of the mixed triples tournament.

This event is always well supported, with players all endeavouring to take home one of the nine hams on offer in teams made up from all the local clubs whilst those from Kaeo and Kerikeri were warmly welcomed.

Eighteen teams played four games of 1 hour 10 minutes with only one team having four wins. Results were, Sel Hargreaves, Val Jones, Matt Jones (RSA) 4 wins, 18 ends, 38 points, 1; Barry Allison, Alan Thom, Jill Phillips (Combined) 3, 20, 44, 2; Kevin Briscoe, Mike Reedy, Connie Pene (Combined) 3, 19, 41, 3.

In other news, the club advised the Fulton Hogan Twilight bowls will recommence from Friday, February 1 for four more Friday nights; and also wished all Far North sports people a Merry Christmas and the best for the festive season, and also acknowledged The Northland Age for providing such comprehensive coverage to all local sporting events.
