When Red Hot Chili Peppers' frontman Anthony Kiedis comes to Northland he knows where to get his information on what's happening and how the surf is running from the Northern Advocate and sister paper the Northland Age, above.

Kiedis arrived in the Far North in a private jet with his partner and their children ahead of concerts at Vector Arena on January 15 and 16 and took some time out to go surfing at Ahipara's famous Shipwreck Bay surf beach. Kiedis had his photograph taken with Kaitaia resident Tori Armstrong which was published in the Northland Age on January 10.

He also caught up with news in the Northern Advocate on the massive surf that was pounding Northland around that time.

This photograph was taken by the Chili Peppers' photographer David Mushegain outside Ahipara's Gumdiggers' Cafe.
