Bundle of cash found in Whangarei street

Anybody who lost a large amount of cash in Whangarei recently should get in touch with Whangarei police.

Sergeant Neil Pennington said a member of the public handed in the cash found outside a Whangarei bank recently.

Mr Pennington said anyone who thought it was theirs should ring the Whangarei police property officer on 09 4304500.

However, police are releasing no details on exactly how much was found, when it was found or where, as the rightful owner would need to be able to provide those details to reclaim the cash.

Mr Pennington said it was encouraging that a member of public handed the money in. "It would have been easy for somebody just to have pocketed it, so it was a nice piece of honesty," he said.
