Bowls: Roll up for top pairs, fours

On February 23, the Northland bowling representative teams are competing in national events.
On February 23, the Northland bowling representative teams are competing in national events.

This weekend sees the first of the centre champion of champion events being held.

On Saturday, 15 men's and 11 women's clubs will be represented in the champion of champion fours at Kensington greens.

Clubs are reminded that reporting time is 8.15am and any team not present will not be included in the draw.

On Sunday, the champion of champion pairs event will be held at Mangawhai greens and there, we have 17 men's and 13 women's teams represented.

Once again, the reporting time is 8.15am and the same conditions apply.

Turnout lacking

The centre executive fours tournament was played on Tuesday at the Hikurangi greens and it was very disappointing that only 14 teams took part.

I know that the Maori Bowls tournament was a week later this year and ran into this event, but not everyone was away in Rotorua.

What happened that clubs were not prepared to offer their hard-working members a social day on the greens?

Reps competing

On February 23, the Northland representative teams are competing in national events.

Come along and see the future senior representative players of our centre compete against our regional partners at the Kensington greens on Saturday.

The winners travel to Auckland on the Sunday to compete against Region 2. Good bowling to you all.
