Although only 15 years old, Northland's Imogen Hull showed maturity beyond her years and tactical racing knowledge to score a race win at the weekend.

Athletics Whangarei's distance runner Hull, who holds the Athletics Northland record in the 5000m, took out the under-18 800m race at the Athletics Auckland Hot Meet at Douglas Stadium in Waitakere, overcoming windy conditions and stiff competition.

Hull recorded a time of 2:26.13 in Saturday's race as she finished over a second in front of North Harbour Bays' runner-up Jade Perrow.

Next weekend, Hull will join club mates Rachyl Edge, Hazel Tana, Amanda Still and Paul Ruddell in the Harbour (Auckland) team for the under-18 inter-provincials in Masterton.
