A Kaitaia businessman accused of child sex offences has appealed to the High Court against earlier decisions by the District Court to refuse him bail.

Daniel Taylor, 37, has yet to plead to six counts of indecently assaulting a boy under 12 years, 11 of indecently assaulting a boy 12 to 16, three of indecently assaulting a male over 16, and two of attempted sexual connection, one of those charges relating to a child under 12 and the other a child 12 to 16.

He filed an appeal in the High Court at Whangarei against the District Court's ruling to refuse him bail on three occasions late last year.

Taylor was last denied bail by Judge Greg Davis in the Kaitaia District Court in February, partly because a proposed bail address in Auckland was unsuitable due to its location.

Justice Murray Gilbert has reserved his decision.
